Real World Performance

Drivers of the 2026 BMW 5-Series may opt for any one of three engine configurations, including an inter-cooled turbo gas and electric inline-four motor on the 530i, an inter-cooled turbo gas and electric inline-six on the 540i, or an inter-cooled turbo gas and electric inline-six on the 550e. Not only does BMW offer its 5-Series in gas or hybrid configurations, but drivers may also pursue the M-class models, which deliver even more horsepower, torque, and excitement. Horsepower starts at a minimum of 255 on the 530i trim level and reaches an incredible 717 horsepower on the most powerful M5.

For drivetrain options, drivers may opt for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, which BMW styles as its xDrive system. Torque starts at 295 on the 530i, increases to 398 on the 540i, and reaches 516 on the 550e. For zero to 60 times, the M Class 5-Series is as fast as 3.4 seconds to 60, and the 530i and 540i models take a more leisurely route to 60 at 4.4 to 5.9 seconds. Drivers can expect 28 to 31 combined EPA mileage, as well as a spacious 18 cubic feet of cargo space.
